Instructions for students

All degree, postgraduate and exchange students of the Network’s partner higher education institutions with a valid right to study at their home institution are eligible to enrol in the courses. In addition to having a valid right to study, students must be registered as attending at their home institution. Before enrolling in a course, please check that your right to study at your home institution remains valid for the duration of the course.

Enrolment in the courses takes place primarily through the Cross-Institutional Study Service (RIPA) via the student’s own study information system (Peppi/Sisu/Pakki). Enrolment periods vary by course. Course-specific enrolment periods can be checked in the study information system and via this website.

The exception is the University of Jyväskylä’s course offering. For enrolment instructions, please see the University of Jyväskylä’s course page on this website.

You can enrol in cross-institutional studies if you have a valid right to study at your home institution and are registered as attending.

Enrol in the course through your home institution’s study information system. You will see whether your enrolment has been accepted or rejected in your home institution’s system.

You will receive a right to study only for courses for which your enrolment has been accepted. The right to study is valid according to the course implementation, up to the end of the academic year.

Enrolment is binding. If you are unable to participate in the course, please cancel your enrolment so that a student on the waiting list may be offered the place.

1. Enrol in the course through Peppi/Sisu/Pakki. When enrolling, give your consent to the disclosure of your information. Without this consent, you cannot enrol in cross-institutional studies.
2. Wait for your enrolment to be processed. You will receive information about acceptance or rejection in your study information system.
3. Once you are accepted for studies at the host institution, you will receive a confirmation email regarding your right to study. You will also be granted a temporary right to study at the host institution. The host institution will provide you with instructions for starting your studies, including information on user accounts where applicable.
4. Your completed course credits will be transferred automatically.

During your studies, you must follow the rules and regulations of the higher education institution providing the teaching.

As a general rule, all students who enrol in the Network’s courses are accepted. However, some courses may have enrolment limits that affect how many students can be selected through the Network. Please check the selection criteria for each course. The number of places reserved for Network students is indicated in the course information in the study information system.

The Network offers courses ranging from introductory to advanced level. It is therefore important to consider your own preparedness to complete the course before enrolling. Some courses may also recommend previous studies. Please check the course information for any such recommendations.

If you are unable to participate in a course, please cancel your enrolment. You can cancel your enrolment in the study information system (Peppi/Sisu) while enrolment is still open. After the enrolment period has ended, please inform the course’s responsible teacher that you will not be participating.

Once the student has successfully completed the course, the credit will be recorded in the study information system.
